Event description

Description

The Department is rapidly transitioning to the Windows 10 Operating System. Many computers have been upgraded or issued with Windows 10. There is a significant number of computers that remain to be upgraded. A list of computers still needing to be upgraded (with assigned users and/or locator codes) was sent to each Division and posted to the DPS Portal.

For computers and users that are assigned or work at any of the Crime Labs and the ACTIC, technicians will upgrade your operating system on-site (at the Crime labs and ACTIC facilities).

For employees/units NOT assigned to a Crime Lab or the ACTIC, please check the list. If your name (or the unit/locator you are responsible for) is listed, please register for a timeslot to bring your computer to the Phoenix PC Support Unit (compound - 2010 W Encanto Blvd.) to upgrade your computer to Windows 10. You will need to bring your computer, power cord, MiFi, and other mobile device (GPS, mobile printer). Timeslots have been setup to minimize the amount of time your computer is not available to you. Back up any locally saved files, photos, or documents, as the computer’s hard-drive will be erased as part of the upgrade.

Most computers will be upgraded within the scheduled three-hour timeslot. Older computers, or those with special requirements, may take longer than three hours.

Additional regional sites are being scheduled to conduct upgrades, including Casa Grande, Yuma, Prescott, Holbrook, and Kingman. These dates and Eventbrite registration links will be posted on the Portal and routed through the respective Divisions within the next week. Employees working in Flagstaff and Tucson should contact their local PC Support Technician to schedule an upgrade appointment.

Weekly updates will be provided to each Division reporting the computers remaining to be upgraded and the users left to schedule.

NOTES:

PC's with specialty software (CVEB/LPR Cameras/etc.) take additional time as these are non-standard configurations.

Failure to back-up your C Drive/locally saved files means the data will be permanently lost and will not be recoverable! Use the H or S network drives for storage.
