Wills for Heroes training for volunteers
Monthly Event - Second Thursday of every month: 9:00 AM (CDT)
Wills for Heroes provides free basic estate planning to eligible first responders, including firefighters, paramedics, and others.
Volunteers are invited to attend one of these free estate planning training/CLE sessions. The training will take place via teleconference (a link to the materials will be provided). Training is required for all attorneys prior to serving in a Wills for Heroes clinic (to be held at various dates and locations throughout 2010). If you are a law student or paralegal volunteer, you are welcome to attend the training too but you will, of course, not receive CLE credit for attending.
For more information on the Wills for Heroes program, please visit our website at www.wisbar.org/heroes. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please go to the Wills for Heroes website, click “Contact Us” and fill out the volunteer registration form.
Wisconsin Wills for Heroes
Through Wisconsin’s Wills for Heroes program, volunteer attorneys, notaries and witnesses serve in clinics scheduled at the request of first responder organizations around the state. At these events, volunteer lawyers prepare wills and other basic estate planning documents at no charge for eligible first responders and their spouses or domestic partners.
We use Eventbrite to schedule volunteers. First responders who want to set up an appointment to have an estate plan created should contact the site coordinator at the organization hosting the cliinic.
Wills for Heroes in Wisconsin is sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin pro bono program with support from Foley & Lardner LLP, LexisNexis, HotDocs and the State Bar of Wisconsin's Young Lawyers Division.
