INSTRUCTOR: Rob Miller

Basketry is a timeless art of elegance, simplicity and practicality. Join us for 2 days as we slow down into Nature’s rhythm, practicing the weaves of our ancestors. You will create a medium-sized handled basket from willow, usable for harvest, shopping, storage, laundry and more.You’ll go home with a beautiful and useful basket you can be proud of. Sign up early as this class is popular and limited to only 6 participants.

A light organic, gluten- and dairy-free lunch and refreshments will be provided.

LOCATION: Aprovecho Meeting Hall

TUITION: Early Bird (Registered/Paid by December 27th) $200; After December 27th $250; Last Minute (after January 13th): $275

MATERIALS: Fee $20; Materials for participants to bring include a sharp sheath knife or clasp knife with a locking handle, hand pruners, and a comfortable pillow to sit on.

ABOUT ROB: Rob Miller is the lead guide, program designer, and director of Cascadia Quest – a local non-profit that provides wilderness rites of passage and other educational and growth activities. He is a wilderness guide, ceremonialist, wildcrafter, council leader, loving parent, and fun-loving instigator of radical and sustainable earth-based culture change. He is a joyful and ethical commercial wild harvester of medicinal herbs and wild mushrooms. For the past two decades he has been living and teaching variety of survival and primitive skills, focusing on them as a tool for personal and ecospirtual maturation.

REGISTRATION

Please register to reserve your space. You will receive an email confirmation within 2-3 business days. Our refund policy is 14 days in advance for a full refund. After that it is a partial refund up to 3 days before the class or workshop begins.

ROOM AND BOARD

Non-local students who are traveling to attend our workshops have the option to stay on campus on a first-come, first-served basis. If staying on campus, a bed in a double dormitory room is $20 per night. There may be other options available. Please contact us for details. Students are asked to bring their own food and will have acces to a full kitchen.

Refreshments and a light gluten-free, organic, vegetarian lunch will be offered for each day of the workshop for all students.

ABOUT OUR WORKSHOPS

Apart from our internationally-recognized summer residential programs in Permaculture and Sustainable Shelter, Aprovecho also hosts guest instructors during the winter months to teach workshops aligned with our mission and vision. The road to new skills is long and requires patience and hard work. We aim to give people, from beginners to advanced practitioners, the expert knowledge and guided practice they need to develop or advance skills. We offer the best well-known and emerging instructors in the Pacifc Northwest community. Our standards are high, and we strive to make every student’s experience here inspiring, comfortable, and rewarding. Workshop formats vary depending on subject, teacher, and student needs.

  • Student Discount: 10% off workshop tuition. A 10% refund will be offered the day of with a valid student ID.
  • Register early for the best rate! All workshops have an early-bird rate.

  • Rural Southern Lane County and Cottage Grove area residents, including Drain, Lorane, Dorena, Creswell, and Saginaw, qualify for a 2-for-1 rate for our work- shops.
