Below is a brief summary of Mr. Ferro's outstanding accomplishments:

William V. Ferro is an attorney and managing partner of the law firm of Ferro, Kuba, Mangano, Sklyar, P.C., which he founded in 1989.  A graduate of  Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Ferro began his career with the Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Defense Division.  He subsequently entered private practice and continued to handle high profile criminal defense matters and personal injury cases.  Today, the firm’s personal injury department handles upwards of 1,000 files, representing hundreds of new accident victims each year throughout New York City and across Long Island.

For the last eight years, the firm has operated 1-800-CANTASO, a line connecting Spanish-speaking clients to its legal services.  The increase in FKMS’ Hispanic client-base drew Mr. Ferro’s attention to the needs of New York’s underserved Latino community, and he and his firm have since devoted great efforts to assisting local groups.  These community service initiatives range from contributing school supplies, to food and toy drives during the holiday seasons, and offering annual flu vaccines and water to day laborers with Rev. Alan Ramirez.  In September 2010 FKMS opened its first 1-800-CANTASO community-based law center in Brentwood, Long Island. In 2012, its second CATASO law office opened in Jackson Heights with an eye towards future expansion.

Additionally, Mr. Ferro has taken an active role in the Latin entertainment industry, as a sponsor of concerts for Grammy-winning artists like Luis Fonsi and Gilberto Santa Rosa on Long Island.  In May 2011, the firm launched a new Spanish-language radio program, Almorzando Con Cantaso, which airs weekdays on La Fiesta 98.5 FM.  The show has been highly successful, highlighting topics relevant to the Latino community and offering a platform for up-and-coming artists to showcase their talents.

Mr. Ferro is the Vice President of the Jericho School District Board of Education and serves on the Board of Directors at Pronto of Long Island. Due, in large part, to the firm’s involvement in the Latino community, he was named one of Long Island’s Influential People of 2010 by Long Island Business News.

RotaCare: Free Health Care for People in Need

Founded in 1992 by members of the Mineola‐Garden City Rotary Club, RotaCare was created to serve the needs of the uninsured on Long Island. It began when a group of concerned volunteers met at the Mary Brennan Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead. Many of these volunteers recognized that in addition to food, the medical needs of their clients were not met adequately by the healthcare system. Through the collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club, local healthcare professionals, area residents, and Mercy Hospital, a “MASH” team was formed to operate weekly at the soup kitchen. RotaCare was born. Since its inception, RotaCare has remained a Rotary District project and supported by concerned companies, organizations and individuals to sustain its good works and benefits to the community by providing free health care to people in need. In 2007, RotaCare expanded its scope again, and moved to larger quarters at the A. Holly Patterson Extended Family Care Facility in Uniondale.
