Event description

William & Mary Law Revue is hosting A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer at William & Mary! MMRP is a collection of monologues raising awareness about violence against women. This production is a fundraiser for Avalon, a local domestic violence shelter in Williamsburg. Your ticket cost is a donation directly to Avalon. Our fundraising goal is $1,500! This will make a remarkable impact on our community. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the show!

About MMRP from V-Day's website:

"A groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle. These diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels: brutality, neglect, a punch, even a put-down. The volume features such authors and topics as: Edward Albee on S&M Maya Angelou on women's work; Michael Cunningham on self-mutilation; Dave Eggers on a Sudanese abduction; Edwidge Danticat on a border crossing; Carol Gilligan on a daughter witnessing her mother being hit; Susan Miller on raising a son as a single mother; Sharon Olds on a bra; Patricia Bosworth on her own physically abusive relationship; Jane Fonda on reclaiming our Mojo; and many more."

Is this performance appropriate for children?

There are no age requirements, but we do want parents to be aware of the content of the show. The monologues discuss sexual assaults and violence against women, as well as use adult language that parents may not find appropriate for their children. Parents should be aware of this content when making the decision of whether or not to bring their child to this performance. If you have any questions or concerns about the content of the performance, please contact us and we'd be happy to discuss this with you.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

If you are a W&M student or faculty member with a valid parking pass, you can park in the football stadium lot. If you are a visitor, please follow this link to William & Mary's parking services website for more information. Information on transportation via Williamsburg's bus system, WATA, can be found here.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Your donations to Avalon through MMRP that are above and beyond the cost of the ticket (but excluding the processing fees from Eventbrite) are tax deductible. If you are interested in making your gift tax deductible, please email Nicole Alanko at jnalanko@email.wm.edu.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

If you have any other questions about the event, please email Nicole Alanko at jnalanko@email.wm.edu.
