The human brain was designed to be the ultimate computer; able to collect staggering amounts of knowledge as well as to apply some of it astutely to ever-changing circumstances. Neuroscientists are still studying to understand the full potential of this neuron superhighway. Recent studies have found that the capacity of the average human brain is capable of storing all information on the entire Internet or ten times what was previously believed. But can that information be optimally stored and retrieved? Understanding that is a very different matter and one for discussion…
In her presentation, WJU’s Melanie Trowbridge, M.D., will present useful information about the brain and behavior connection. From her background in medicine, and specialization in psychiatry, Dr. Trowbridge will share principles concerning this specific connection that can improve the “storage and retention” achieved by students of all ages. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative discussion and activities during this interactive presentation.
