The Alumni of DLIS have invited Jean O'Grady, Senior Director of Information, Research & Knowledge at DLA Piper US, LLP to speak on Community Engagement. She is a frequent author and speaker on the transformation of libraries and information centers, digital contract licensing , knowledge management, and the legal publishing industry. She has spoken at programs sponsored by the Information Industry Association, the Association of Newsletter Publishers, Practicing Law Institute, International Legal Technology Association , West Publishing, Price Waterhouse, LegalTech, Lexis-Nexis. Janders Dean Knowledge Management Conference, American Association of Law Schools. as well as AALL, Canadian Association of Law Libraries, Australian Law Libraries Association and the Special Libraries Association.
William A. Gillard (LL.B. 1932) served as Director of Libraries and taught Library Science at St. John’s University. He was chairman of the Department of Library Science from 1942 to 1956. He was awarded the President’s Medal in 1960, the highest honor the university can bestow on a faculty member. The DLIS Alumni Association established the lecture series in his honor in 1970.
The William A. Gillard Lecture will take place on Tuesday March 28, 2017 at St. John’s University’s Queens Campus.
