Description

Data protection is a subject which strikes fear into many people’s hearts and the EU’s upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is set to bring the UK’s data protection laws into the 21st century. Matthew Clayton and Caroline Leviss (from Willans’ corporate and commercial team) will unwrap and demystify the GDPR, exploring what it means for UK businesses and their commercial and employee data.

Topics to be covered include:

  • implications of the new law for employee and customer consents

  • your obligations to provide information about how data will be used and stored

  • data transfers

  • subject access requests

  • reporting of security breaches

  • notification/registration requirements
