The Willamette Valley Wineries Association had a transformative year in 2017. Join fellow members for this year’s business meeting focused on DTC and Cultivating Wine Tourism in the Willamette Valley. We will be joined by special guest speakers Rob McMillan of Silicon Valley Bank and Megan Conway of Travel Portland.

Rob McMillan,
EVP & Founder, Silicon Valley Bank Wine Division

Rob has been thrice named as one of the Top 50 Most Influential People in the US Wine Industry, the only banker ever recognized. He has been authoring Silicon Valley Bank’s views on the industry, as well as the highly regarded State of the Wine Industry Report for over 20 years. He is the founder of the Bank’s wine division, which is recognized as the leading provider of financial services to the US fine wine business. A frequent media commentator, international conference speaker, lecturer at several West Coast universities and regular blogger, Rob’s informed opinions are trusted by wine producers, importers and financiers alike. He has served on a variety of board capacities over the course of his career in diverse industries, and continues to do so today within the wine space.

 

Megan Conway
Vice President of Communications and PR, Travel Portland

Megan Conway, vice president of communications and public relations for Travel Portland, oversees a team of communications professionals dedicated to domestic and international media relations efforts. Conway serves as lead spokesperson on local tourism industry messaging and drives overall communications strategy for the organization to help share the city’s offerings for visitors as well as the economic impact of tourism on the local economy.

Before joining Travel Portland in 2010, Conway served as PR lead at the adidas U.S. headquarters in Portland. She oversaw public relations work for primetime sporting events ― including the 2010 Summer Olympics, the 2010 Olympic Track & Field Trials and the 2010 World Cup ― and ongoing initiatives for running, soccer and training. Prior to adidas, Conway gained experience in tourism through roles with Travel Portland and Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory. She has also served as account lead at Weber Shandwick Minneapolis for consumer product clients such as Jim Beam, Coca-Cola and Microsoft.

Originally from Minnesota, Conway lives in Northeast Portland with her husband and three children. Her favorite PDX activities include running in Mt. Tabor Park and picking up local goods at one of the city’s many farmers’ markets.
