Join us for a walk along the Silverburn river, taking a close look at the flowers and plants to be found at this time of year.
About this event
The Silverburn river begins on the slopes of South Barrule and reaches the sea in Castletown. This walk will take us along the river from Castletown to Silverdale, identifying the plants we find along the way, along with their edibility and uses.
This area is one of the best places to look for wildflowers in the early months of the year and we'll hope to see many different species on this walk, including Snowdrops, Butterbur, Coltsfoot and Wood Anemones.
The footpath along the river is flat and relatively well-maintained, but can be very muddy in places. The route should be easy for most walkers, but please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the cold weather we expect at this time of year.
The start time for this event is 2pm. Please meet at Castletown Railway Station.
