Event description

Description

Friends of Wild Virginia –

Please join us on Sunday, April 28 for a wildflower walk with Michael Seth, member of VNPS (Virginia Native Plant Society) and professor at James Madison University.

The group will meet at the South River Falls trailhead at 10 am. The hike will be a moderately strenuous four-mile loop down to the South River Falls and back up, with part of the hike on a fire road and one section along the Appalachian Trail. We also plan to stop along Skyline Drive on the way back to look for Yellow Ladyslippers.

Directions: Take US-33 to Shenandoah National Park, Swift Run Gap Entrance station. Turn left onto Skyline Drive (heading north) and drive 2.7 miles to the South River Picnic Area; meet in parking area near trailhead. You will need a National Park pass or Shenandoah Park Entrance pass ($30/vehicle for a one-week pass) or else carpool with someone who has a pass.

Charlottesville carpoolers: Meet at Albemarle Square parking lot at 9 AM on Sunday morning (in front of 300 Albemarle Square, former site of Northside Library; corner of US-29 and Rio Road).

Suggested donation $10
