Event description

Description

Join Wild Virginia on the second Monday of each month to discuss a book related to nature and the environment.

In May we will discuss An American Wolf: A True story of Survival and Obsession in the West by Nate Blakeslee. The book tells the story of "the '06 female" born in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park in 2006. Through her story the book explores wide ranging topics including wolf behavior, the roles of predators in ecosystems and the impact of human attitudes and actions on the survival of these animals.

“There are so few wolves in the West that each one can cast a kind of enchantment. This fine book takes one animal, and uses it as a way to understand the vectors that whipsaw the last wild places. It will linger in your mind and heart.”
