Description

Join Katrina Blair, the author of Wild Wisdom of Weeds: 13 Essential Plants for Human Survival for a hands-on workshop where we will explore the woods and cultivated areas of Oxbow Orchard, a farm in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (6885 Canal Rd., Valley View, OH 44125). This is your chance to dive deeper into the wild foods and centering movement with our guests!

The Wild Wisdon of Weeds is about empowering ourselves to maintain a state of optimal health with minimal cost and effort. Ben Falk, author of The Resilient Farm and Homestead says this about Katrina's book "This is the kind of information that should precede gardening and farming. Katrina Blair expertly shows that before picking up a hoe or spreading a single seed, we can turn to our yards, fields, and forests for so many of the foods and medicines we need to live well." Sandor Katz says "Her recipes have inspired me to experiment with new ingredients in my ferments."

Katrina Blair is also the Founder of Turtle Lake Refuge in Durango, CO, and she will guide us to identify, harvest and appreciate the wild plants around us. She teaches us how to integrate these wild, nutrient-dense foods and medicines into our daily practices and demonstrates their nourishing qualities in delicious recipes.

Joining Katrina, will be Tyler VanGemert, LAc, Owner of Mountain Medicine Acupuncture in Durango, CO. Tyler uses ancient breath-work, meditation, and movement practices from Taoist and Cherokee traditions to lead us into an inner alignment of indigenous consciousness. This intuitive depth prepares us for opening our mind and bodies to the plants’ wisdom.

Day will include: immersion in our natural environment with Katrina and local botanists, hands-on experience connecting with the edible and medicinal plants, sacred movement practices, and celebrating with a wild foods potluck! Bring a no-fuss dish to share!

Cost is $40 per person and space is limited to 25. Registration is required. Children under 12 are free and welcome to join, but please let us know they will be attending so we can plan ahead.

Thanks to our partners and sponsors!
