Program Agenda

9:00-10:00 a.m.   Registration (Due to safety reasons, we will not be serving continental breakfast this year - coffee & juice only)

10:00-11:00 a.m. ‘Indiana’s Wild Climate’ with Aaron Stump – Indiana Wildlife Federation Aaron will explore our state’s place in the climate crisis and discuss the origins of climate science, the implications for Indiana, and how we can do our part to fight the greatest challenge of our time. The threat of the climate crisis can often seem too big and daunting to take on, but we will break down the facts about our climate role and discuss why it isn’t too late to make a difference.

11:15-12:15 p.m. ‘Soils: Homeowner Friendly Methods to Determine Soil Conditions BEFORE You Plant’ with Keith Nowakowski - Registered Landscape Architect - Keith will discuss simple methods to determine a potential planting site’s soil condition, including compaction, fertility, composition (soil type), and pH. He will reveal how agricultural, land development and cultural practices can affect all of these conditions and how homeowners can use this knowledge to make informed decisions when trying to decide what plants might work well to meet their landscape goals.

12:15-1:00 p.m. Boxed Lunch, Socializing, and Shopping! Protein Salad – greens, veggies, garbanzo beans with Green Goddess dressing & chicken breast or tofu. Ham & Cheddar Croissant – sliced ham, cheddar, veggies, Dijon mayo & sweet potato chips or pasta salad Green sandwich – chickpeas, veggies, avocado, greens on multigrain bread & sweet potato chips or pasta salad. **Please make sure to pick a lunch option during check-out**

1:15 – 2:30 p.m. ‘Favorite Native Plants through the Seasons’ with Denise Sandoval – Owner of Good Natured Landscaping Discover the inner and outer beauty of some of Denise’s favorite native plants through the seasons. She’ll discuss those she uses most often in her designs because they are beautiful, versatile, and easy to grow. These plants also do well in clay soils, are easy to find, and take a range of moisture conditions as well as sun conditions. Learn about their physical attributes, their behavior, how to use the in the garden, plus some of the wildlife they support.

2:30-3:00 p.m. Silent Auction Results
