Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

“wild child” is a thirty minutes solo by Valérie Reding, which is realized as a co-production with Tanzhaus
Zürich. The premiere as well as two additional performances will take place at Tanzhaus Zürich in
November 2017 and later on some more presentations will take place at the Winterthur Dance Festival
2017 as well as at TROIS C-L and at the "Queer Little Lies“ festival in Luxembourg in April 2018 and
November 2018 respectively.

When pompous burlesque acts and personal confessions come together, the boundaries between
naturalness and artificiality, authenticity and masquerade, reality and fantasy become blurred.

When the performer transforms herself without interruption from one character to the next under the eyes
of the audience, regardless of gender roles, she deals with the constructedness of sexual desire – from the
perspective of an asexual in a world of sexual omnipresence.

With show numbers staged to perfection and a dash of intimate fragility can the “wild child” seduce the
viewer to engage in a “polymorphous-perverse” play with the principles of desire?

The solo will be created within the new platform "SHOW-OFF“ at Tanzhaus Zürich, that offers dance
professionals from Zurich four weeks of joint rehearsal time, exchange and a professional environment in
which to develop a short piece. The process is coached by local mentors (Simone Aughterlony, Martin
Zimmermann and David Baumgartner), with the pieces being presented to the public afterwards.
