Women In Defense Tennessee Valley Chapter is pleased to present its May Mentorship Event featuring Dr. Claudette Owens. Dr. Owens will speak to attendees on "Conquering the Wonder Woman Syndrome". Lunch will be catered by Good Company Cafe.

Dr. Claudette Owens is an engineer, physicist, mentor, motivational speaker, facilitator, preacher, teacher, and writer. Her faith is an integral part of her being and provides the foundation for the manner that she carries herself as a person and as a professional.

Dr. Owens is currently a part-time on-call employee with KODA Technologies, Inc., and is an engineering and professional services consultant providing technical support and advice to community boards and non-profits. Dr. Owens is a retired Army civilian from USASMDC/ARSTRAT where she spent more than 30 years within a variety of leadership positions and assignments.

As the Director of Operations (OPS Director) for the Future Warfare Center (FWC), Dr. Owens was responsible for organizational leadership and synergism of a geographically disbursed and diverse organization. During her tenure as OPS Director, processes and procedures were formalized and codified, and formalized Workforce Development/Training and Employee Cross Training programs were developed. The FWC also set the Command standard in many areas to include exceeding Army and Command required expenditure rates.

Dr. Owens spent 12 years as the Government Manager of the MDA and USASMDC’s Advanced Research Center and Simulation Center, respectively. As the Government Manager Dr. Owens oversaw the daily operations and met customer program requirements for the centers to include the IT, floor space footprint, HW/SW acquisition and integration, requested resources, facility management, and security to ensure flight and ground test, table top test, exercises, and wargames, cost, time, and schedules were met. Dr. Owens also served as Supervisor of the FWC Information and Computational Engineering (ICE) Division, was instrumental in initiating the USASMDC/ARSTRAT’s Cyber initiatives and supported the initial Army Cyber Command requirements. Dr. Owens’ initial USASMDC/ARSTRAT assignments centered on research efforts in the area of computer architectures and algorithms before moving into computer networks.

Dr. Owens holds a BS in Engineering Technology, Ala A&M a BS in Electrical Engineering, UAH; and a MS and PhD in Physics, Ala A&M a Master’s in Biblical Studies, and a Master’s in Ministry, Legacy Bible College; and a Doctorate in Ministry, Andersonville Theological Seminary.

Dr. Owens enjoys reading, quiet time, spending time with her family and grandchildren, singing, writing songs and poems, and writing/directing plays. She is also very active in the community through many organizations. Dr. Owens is a pastor’s wife and serves as the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, Alabama’s Worship Arts and Family Pastor. She is also a Prophetic Intercessor and Author. In her book, “He Restores My Soul: Coming Out of Darkness,” she shares her journey coming out of a season of depression. She is married to her college sweetheart, Dr. Edward L. Owens. They share three sons, Jeremy, Chip (Lillian), and Arri “AJ” and three grandchildren: Josiah, David, and Zarya.
