WiCS #1: Let's meet up!
Event Information
Description
I'm pleased to announce that the first WiCS (Women in Cyber Security) Scotland event is going to take place on the 21st September 2019, at 2pm in Akva (Fountainbridge, Edinburgh).
There will be talks from some super talented folk who kindly have come forward and volunteered to get our first meetup going. The details of the agenda will be published shortly when speakers finalise the topics they want to share with us - for now please find a rough outline below.
Running order
2.00pm - arrive, say hello & order food and drink
2.30pm - intro & talks:
-
Hazel Gibbens, Entrepreneur Engagement Manager @ TechNation
-
Gaye Cleary, Information Security Consultant @ Grant McGregor Ltd
-
Hela Lucas, Security Engineering intern @ Facebook
4.00pm onwards - networking!
Accessibility
- The event is taking place in Akva (mezzanine). I'm in the process of confirming with the venue whether or not that space is wheelchair-accessible.
- There is food and drink available for purchase at the bar, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food. The menu can be found here: click.
- Akva is a family-friendly place welcoming children up until 8pm on the weekends. Please feel free to bring your child along, we'd hate it if your childcare responsibility was prohibiting you from joining us. If you let me know in advance, I might even be able to provide some cyber-themed coloring pages! If your child is old enough to need their own seat at the table please feel free to grab a separate ticket for them so I know the numbers.
- Everyone, regardless of gender identity, is welcome to attend. Women are especially encouraged. However, if you don't feel diversity and inclusion in the tech industry is a cause you care about, you might want to give this event a pass.
- By getting a ticket to this event and attending, you agree to obey the Berlin Code of Conduct. If during the event you need to contact someone regarding the CoC, find me or DM me on Twitter.
- If there is any other accommodation you think I should be making to make you feel welcome, please let me know; I'm happy to learn and really want you all to attend!
***Please note this page is not complete and will be updated with more details from speakers***
