Description

Volunteer at a community garden to help with the war on weeds!

Help keep weeds at bay during the growing season while maintaining the aesthetic beauty of our parks.

Typical tasks will include:

  • Mulching
  • Covering plots
  • Sprucing up
  • Pulling weeds
  • Pruning
  • Composting

This registration is for the specific date noted above. However, you are welcome to volunteer for multiple events. The full 2017 list of locations and dates follows:

  • Bayou Oaks Community Garden, Firehouse Park Jun 23 and Jul 20, 9:30 am
  • Bee Ridge Community Garden, Bee Ridge Park Jul 18, 9 am
  • Culverhouse Community Garden, Nature Park Aug 22, 9 am
  • Englewood Community Garden, Buchan Airport Park Aug 17, 9:30 am
  • Laurel Community Garden, Laurel Park Aug 9, 9 am
  • Nokomis Community Garden, Nokomis Park Jun 21, 9 am
  • North Port Community Gardens, Warm Mineral Springs July 14 and Aug 11, 9:30 am

What should you bring? Work gloves, water, hats, sunscreen, and a smile! Volunteers should dress appropriately for physical outdoor work and be prepared for insects and heat. You will be asked to complete a volunteerism agreement form upon arrival. A parental consent form is required for minors.

Come feed your soul with some great, outdoor exercise!
