Event description

Description

We live in times marked by change, but there are places where gender equality is being systematically overlooked. The Catholic Church is one of them.

Voices of Faith invite you to join our 5th annual International Women’s Day celebration as we bring Catholic women from across the globe working in community, for social inclusion, gender equality and human rights, to Rome. They will bring stories that inspire us, honesty that reveals hard truths and solutions that unites us as we continue our journey for equality, inclusion and engagement for women in leadership in the Catholic Church.

Hear from Alina, a young outspoken theologian and journalist from Germany, Ssenfuka a lesbian Catholic woman pioneering LGBT rights in Uganda, a country where same-sex relations are punishable by life in prison. Learn from Mary McAleese, the eight president of Ireland about the leadership roles women can and must play in our Church, and get inspired by Joana who came to her role as Jesuit Refugee Services Program Director in Chad, Africa after a lifetime of volunteering with poor and marginalised communities.
