Meet the Panelists
Humaira Ahmed, Locelle
Humaira Ahmed is the Founder and CEO of Locelle - an enterprise networking platform to connect and engage women in the workplaces for support and mentorship.
As a Pakistani born Canadian entrepreneur, Humaira is passionate about diversity in traditionally male-dominated industries. Being a woman of colour, immigrant, and having a background in Software Engineering, Humaira is on a mission to inspire and influence women to pursue their ambitions and navigate barriers.
Julie Angus, Open Ocean Robotics
A scientist, adventurer, boat designer, and entrepreneur, Julie Angus cofounded Open Ocean Robotics to help protect our oceans and offer solutions to some of our greatest maritime challenges.
Julie is the first woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean from mainland to mainland and a recipient of the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award. Explore Magazine listed her as one of North America’s leading adventurers and in 2016 Canadian Geographic named her one of Canada’s Greatest Women Explorers. Prior to forming Open Ocean Robotics, Julie cofounded Angus Rowboats, a company providing robotically-cut kits for a variety of human-powered craft and sailboats, and worked in venture capital, technology transfer and business development. Julie received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from McMaster University and her Masters of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Victoria.
She is a recipient of the McMaster University Young Alumni Award, University of Victoria’s Distinguished Alumni Award, IEEE N3XT Star Award and a Fellow of Canadian Geographic.
Brandon Wright, BRNKL
Brandon grew up in Comox and his career path as an Engineer involved developing security systems to protect royal palaces, the borders of countries, and military bases in the Middle East.
Juan Orrego, Cuboh
I am the founder of Cuboh, a SaaS app creating the new way restaurants use delivery applications. I am passionate about SaaS, and really enjoy experimenting with new ventures every now and then.
