Focus of the Seminar:
Leaving the EU has widespread implications on the UK’s healthcare system. It limits the exchange of knowledge, research and technology with our neighbouring countries. At present, it is extremely hard for U.K. based innovators and researchers, especially SMEs to scale and market their innovations. How can the government better support healthcare innovation? Should the NHS play a greater role?
Structure of the Seminar:
The structure of this two hour seminar resembles that of a Select Committee: evidence is presented by the practitioner that is subsequently debated by attendees, with the ultimate aim of agreeing specific recommendations to government, universities, and relevant third sector organisations. The Chatham House Rule applies at our seminar, and attendees will have an opportunity to review the output from the seminar prior to its publication. The seminar will be followed by reception from 7pm onwards.
Expected outcomes of the Seminar:
Building understanding of the extent of the problem faced by SMEs in the healthcare sector
Synthesising ideas to support SMEs
Creating policy recommendations to influence government and NHS to achieve greater support for SMEs developing healthcare technologies, tools and diagnostics
Networking opportunities to enable collaborative responses to shared problems
