WHY TREATIES MATTER
Presented by: National Museum of the American Indian

Explore innovative ways to connect content from the National Museum of the American Indian's exhibition, Nation to Nation: Treaties Between the United States and American Indian Nations to your Classroom Curriculum. Teaachers will discuss points-of-view and learn more about the impact and power of ideas such as Manifest Destiny and westward expansion. How can American Indian perspectives and contemporary events engage students? Teachers will experience a lesson plan in action, explore primary and secondary sources, and leave with classroom strategies and resources to cultivate purposeful inquiry and deeper understanding of historical treaties' relevance today.
