Why Do I Do That? Understanding Yourself Through Internal Family Systems
Overview
Do you ever find yourself wondering, “Why do I do that?!”
Maybe you're someone who worries a lot (even though logically you know it's OK), or you find yourself scrolling through your phone every night (even though you feel rubbish afterwards), or you keep saying to yes to things (even when you're exhausted and want to say no). Perhaps these are even things you’ve already worked on, but for some reason, they just keep popping back up.
This gentle workshop, led by IFS Therapist Sophie Marsh, is an invitation to explore those questions with curiosity and compassion. You’ll be introduced to Internal Family Systems (IFS) a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps you understand why you do the things you do, and what you can do about it.
Through reflection, guided meditation, and a creative parts-mapping exercise, you’ll:
🌿 Learn what IFS is and how it helps us understand ourselves more deeply
🌿 Experience a meditation to help you access the calm, steady energy you already have inside
🌿 Explore your own parts gently and safely from this anchored state
🌿 Create a simple “parts map” to bring clarity and connection to your inner world
You don’t need any prior knowledge of IFS, just an open mind, pen and paper, and a quiet space to reflect. This workshop offers a space to slow down, listen inwardly, and discover what’s really happening beneath the surface.
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of who you are and why you do what you do, and some simple ways to continue this powerful work.
All parts of you are welcome. I look forward to seeing you there.
