Students will be guided through various live fire drills in order to improve performance and increase comfort levels. *This class is open to "Club Members and the General Public". 

 

*Where: Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club - 540 NY-376, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533

 

*Club Members: $130.00 - $50.00 paid at registration, $80.00 due on the range, by cash, check or money order. *Must show proof of membership the day of class.

 

*Non-Members: $150.00 - $50.00 paid at registration, $100.00 due on the range, by cash, check or money order.

*Registration for this class closes on April 7th at 11:30pm

 

*Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes earlier, we meet on the upper level "Trap Club House", class starts 9am sharp, please be on time.


*Duration: 5 hours, from 9:00AM - 3:00PM (*lunch break in between)

 

*A Certificate will be issued upon successful completion of this class.

 

 

*Class Description*

This course is designed to introduce the student to the art of "Tactical Shotgun".

Students will be guided through various live fire drills in order to improve performance and increase comfort levels.

At the end of this class, students will have the knowledge, skills and attitude to use a shotgun efficiently and with confidence.

 

This class will introduce you to the following:

-Safe handling

-Ammunition selection

-Clearing malfunctions

-Loading and unloading

-Birdshot, Buckshot patterns and Slug zeroing

-Understanding the shotgun’s range

-Marksmanship fundamentals

-Shotgun manipulation and shooting techniques

-Static shooting drills

-Combat shooting

-Shooting from different distances

-Shooting on the move

-Multiple shots

-Multiple target technique

-Cleaning and maintenance

 

 

*REQUIREMENTS*

 

-You must demonstrate: All aspects of firearm safety, good muzzle management and trigger discipline.

-You must be: A "U.S. Citizen" or "Legal Resident of the United States".

-You must present: A valid pistol license. If you don't have one, a current driver’s license or any valid U.S. Government issued photo Id.

-Clean Background: As a condition to attend this class, if you don't have a valid pistol license, you must be able to legally possess a firearm. 

-You must be: 18 or older to participate.

-Mechanically sound: Pump or semi-auto shotgun with a sling (12 or 20 Gauge).

-Ammo holder: Shotgun side saddle, shell holder, ammo pouch or extra-large pockets.

-Ammo Count: Birdshot 150 rounds (any size or # 7 or # 8), Buckshot 25 rounds, Slug 25 rounds

-Ear Protection: A must have, electronic ear protection is highly recommended or any earmuffs or plugs.

-Eye Protection: A must have, wraparound eyewear with polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses are highly recommended. 

-Hat w/ Brim: Highly recommended for extra eye protection. 

-Footwear: Suitable for rapid movement and turning

-Knee Pads: Recommended

-Shooting Gloves: Recommended

-Clothing: Suitable for any weather, pants w/ large cargo pockets or long sleeve t-shirt/shirt are recommended, please no low-cut neck lines

 

 

*RESTRICTIONS* 

-We start on a "Cold Range": When you arrive, “Do Not” remove your firearm from the gun bag, even if unloaded within the designated "safety area". We’ll call you to the firing line to get your gun ready for the class. If you don't have a gun bag, your firearm action should be open, chamber empty and your gun pointed in a safe direction.


-Ammo Type: No homemade reloads will be allowed. 

 

 

*WEATHER* 

Please check the weather and dress accordingly, we shoot outdoors, rain or shine. You'll be notified of a cancellation due to “severe” weather conditions.

 

 

*FOOD AND BEVERAGES* 

Bring your own lunch, snacks and beverage(s).

 

 

*REFUNDS/CREDITS*

A full refund will be issued to you, if a class is cancelled due to "severe" weather conditions.

No refund will be granted for cancelations made 48hrs or less of the date of this class. In this case, a credit towards your next class will be issued (minus any applicable processing fees). In order to apply the credit towards your next class, you must contact Nicys by phone within 3 months of the original date and book your next class, no credits will be granted afterwards
