Event description
Beginner Guided Hiking Session - 4 miles round trip. Approx. 3.5hrs.

About this Event

Sterling Forest has 21,935.08 acres of nearly pristine natural refuge amidst of one of the nation's most densely populated areas, a remarkable piece of woodland, a watershed for millions, and a tremendous outdoor recreation area. This unbroken deep-forest habitat is important for the survival of many resident and migratory species, including black bear, a variety of hawks and songbirds and many rare invertebrates and plants. This area of natural beauty dates back to the early 1800's when the area was mined for iron. We will walk around Sterling Lake, where most of the mines are now located, as well as tour some of the old mining ruins and head up to the fire tower which over looks all of Sterling forest, Harriman State Park and Greenwood Lake.

This event is rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, we will be in touch to cancel the event.
