Calling all kids and families! Want to participate with us in a day of service sponsored by Whole Foods Markets nationwide? Then join us at St. James Farm for an afternoon of clean up and tending to one of DuPage counties most beautiful recreation areas! Sold to The DuPage County Forest Preserve in 2000 by Brooks McCormick, St. James now hosts thousands of DuPage county residents every year. In addition to volunteering, we will be serving an early dinner after we finish the work courtesy of the Whole Foods Market Wheaton & Willowbrook stores.
Volunteer Job Description:
VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION:
(Ages 2 - 65+)
* Turning sod
* Building new beds
* Turning compost pile
* Seed collecting
SUPPLIES TO BRING IF YOU HAVE THEM:
* Extra gardening gloves
* Extra shovels, hoes, trowels, etc.
* Extra buckets
WHAT TO WEAR:
* Old t-shirt
* Heavy boots
* Layers if it's a cloudy day
SNACKS & HYDRATION:
* Please bring water bottles and water
* Please bring snacks if needed
* We will have moderate activities for children ages 5 and under if the need to play strikes; however, if you know your little one would enjoy something special, please bring it along to share!
The 607-acre St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville contains over 100 acres of woodlands, prairies and wetlands, which are home to over 300 native plant species and wildlife like great blue herons, red-bellied woodpeckers, white-breasted nuthatches, coyotes, fox squirrels and white-tailed deer.
