The Offices of the President and Vice-President of Cape Breton University and the Royal Society of Canada Atlantic Chapter are pleased to invite you to join us on beautiful Unama’ki/Cape Breton Island for an afternoon of dialogue and debate on Friday, September 25, 2015 around the question of Who or What Does Higher Education Serve? 
 
This exciting event will cover a range of topics from the Antigonish movement and its continued resonance for today, to transforming institutions of higher education to better serve Canada’s First Peoples, to challenging the students-as-consumers model, to discussing strategies for restructuring the higher education sector in the Province. 
 
Confirmed speakers include: 
  • Stephen Augustine, Dean of Unama'ki College & Hereditary Chief, Sigenigtog District Mi’kmawey Mawiomi and Keptin on the Mi’kmaq Grand Council
