Description
Few concepts are more central to American society than the principles of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. We treasure our fundamental rights of speech, the press, assembly, and religion. To one degree or another, the exercise of those rights has always had the potential to create conflict between employers and employees. Over the last decade, however, the explosive growth of social media has heightened workplace conflict and has reduced (if not eliminated) the private space of employees. In this webinar, national privacy and social media expert Frederick Lane explains the potential social media cybertraps for educators, explores their potential consequences, and offers concrete recommendations on how to minimize personal and professional risks.
Presenter Frederick Lane is an author, attorney, educational consultant, and lecturer based in Brooklyn, NY. He is a nationally-recognized expert in the areas of cybersafety, digital misconduct, personal privacy, and other topics at the intersection of law, technology, and society. Lane has appeared on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, the BBC, and MSNBC. He has written nine books, including most recently Cybertraps for Educators (Mathom Press 2015) and Cybertraps for Expecting Moms & Dad (Mathom Press 2016). He is currently working on his newest book, The Rise of the Digital Mob (Beacon Press 2019). All of his books are available on Amazon.com or through his Web site, FrederickLane.com.
