Literature can be found in all forms on all platforms. From physical books to Insta poetry and now, Twitter. Inspired by @Losslit, all day on Friday 8th May we’ll be inviting various writers to share tweet-length ‘microlit’ on a topic of their choice and we’re inviting you to join us! Be sure to tag us at @wicfcardiff or use the hashtag #wicfmicrolit so that we can reshare your work.
Open mic: Zoom, Sunday 31 May - 3-5pm
Join us for our much-loved open mic but on Zoom! Featuring Yukta Deshmukh, Nasia Sarwar-Skuse, Radha Patel and Nia Morais. There will also be a chance to sign up to perform on the day via Zoom. The open mic will be live streamed on our Facebook page so worry not if you can’t download Zoom - you can still watch and participate!
WOC Creative catch up: Zoom, Saturday 13 June - 3-4pm
These are stressful times for us all. Join us in a gentle catch up and craft session designated for women of colour to share in a relaxed safe space. We’ll have a guided origami tutorial participants can follow along or simply chat while working on their own craft projects. This event will take place over Zoom so please make sure you are able to download it.
Cynghanedd Workshop: Zoom, Sunday 28 June - 3-4pm
Guided poetry workshop by Iestyn Tyne from Y Stamp ' An introduction to the Welsh poetic art of cynghanedd.' We will explore how its principles can be applied and adapted to writing in English.
Mentoring: throughout May & June
Over the years of publishing, organising events, and performances the team at WICF have learnt a thing or two about the literary scene here in Wales. We’d like to offer our skills, experience, and critical eye to new Welsh writers looking for some guidance in short mentoring sessions to discuss a particular aspect of their career - whether it’s your online presence, steps to publication or critical feedback on your latest work, we’d like to help! To apply please email wicfcardiff@gmail.com with the subject line MENTORING and include the following:
- A brief intro to you and your work
- What particular aspect you would like help with (Some examples include: critical feedback on writing pieces, advice on steps to publication, building an online presence)
We'd like this information to ensure we can get you the best match from the WICF team, if you're stuck or have any queries please don't hesitate to email us! Mentoring spaces are limited so we unfortunately won't be able to accept everyone.
