Event description
Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) Educators Training gives teachers and volunteers the tools to effectively coach a team of youth.

About this Event

The Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) is a hands-on environmental education program that provides participants an opportunity to test their wildlife knowledge in a friendly competition, as each state supporting WHEP conducts an annual contest where teams of 3-4 similarly aged individuals gather. WHEP is a 4-H and FFA youth natural resource program dedicated to teaching wildlife and fisheries habitat management to junior and senior level (ages 9 - 18) youth in the United States. Youth learn

  • wildlife terms and concept
  • about wildlife habitat
  • how to judge the quality of wildlife habitat
  • about wildlife habitat management practices
  • about wildlife damage management

Adults participating in the WHEP Educators Training will receive a South Carolina WHEP manual (with the option to purchase additional manuals) , lunch, and instruction by Extension and industry experts. Learn how you can coach a team of youth in WHEP and prepare them for the State WHEP Contest. Learn more about WHEP nationally: https://www.whep.org
