When The Dust Settles
"When the Dust Settles" is an intensive advocacy-training workshop that will walk community members through the state legislative process, as well as providing antendees with information on how local government works. The attendees will leave the training with an understanding of how to navigate the legislative process in order to advocate for the change that's important to them.
About the Facilitator
Justin Kirnon is an experienced civic engagement expert known for his expertise in government relations and communications. Justin received both his Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication with an emphasis in public relations and a master’s of Public Administration from Valdosta State University.
Justin is a self-descried New Yorker with southern charm, born in Harlem, New York and Raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. From 2011 to 2013 Justin worked for the Georgia House of Representatives Democratic Caucus based in Atlanta, Georgia. He seamlessly transitioned from the public engagement intern role to the Director of Public Engagement where he devised and implemented successful communications and branding campaigns for digital and print collaterals.
Currently, Justin is a Governmental Relations Associate with the Georgia Municipal Association. In this fundamental role, he has the privilege of serving as a lobbyist at the Georgia State Capitol on behalf of the more than 520 cities across Georgia that make up the association’s membership.
Throughout his professional career Justin has committed himself to making an impact both in the office and outside in his community. A belief and practice that was instilled in him at an early age, Justin gives back by teaching civic engagement, legislative process, experiential learning and communications courses to various institutions and organizations. He also conducts occasional Bible studies at the Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church.

How to Get There
The location is 115 Martin Luther King Jr Dr SW, Suite 400, Atlanta, GA 30303. The entrance is located off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, between Pryor Street and Peachtree St in the M. Rich Bros. & Co. Building. You'll see a Jamaican Restaurant and garage doors before you reach the building.
Parking is available via Underground Atlanta on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. There is also a parking deck directly adjacent to the building. Street parking on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is available is well. There will be a small charge for parking.
To enter the building, please ring the buzzer. Sign in with security and go on the elevator to the 4th Floor. Turn around, the door will open to your rear. Once you get off the 4th floor, take your first left and proceed all the way to the back. We'll be waiting for you there!
