Event description

Description

Life time risk is 20-30% in the United States. It is more common that Autism and Childhood cancer combined. The behavior is taboo shrouded in shame, guilt, embarrassment, bullying, and avoidance of addressing the ever growing issue that has spread through our schools--from elementary through college and into the workplace.

This event, When Self-injury Becomes Personal: creating understanding and healing, is designed to be a unique opportunity to hear from best-selling author, Brian Cuban, recount his experience with this behavior. Then, an identified authority on the topic, Lori Vann, will create a place of understanding of the behavior from a clinical side while incorporating some of her experiences working with almost 500 individuals who have a history of self-injury. Areas to be covered: the who, what, why, and how of the behavior as the first section. Second sectionL the healing--Tips to To and Not To Do that will either bring healing or more harm

There will be time for Q&A during the talk and at the end of it. The event wraps up with book signings of Brian Cuban's two books and Lori Vann's two books. The books will be available for purchase at the event.

CEUs will be provided to LPCs, Social Workers, LMFTs, and LCDCs by La Hacienda Treatment Centers.
