Event description

Description

Have you ever wondered what military lawyers do in war? While their duties and roles are diverse "downrange," a critical aspect is the practice of "operational law." Join the University of Richmond School of Law Veterans and Military Law Association and the American Bar Association to hear from four military JAGs on what it's like to advise military leaders on the laws of armed conflict, rules of engagement, ethical challenges, and many other legal friction points that arise in overseas contingency operations. These speakers have advised two-star generals, Army Rangers, Navy Seals, and many more decision-makers in high stress, high risk environments. We'll also hear from a former military commander who has relied heavily on his lawyers and will be able to address the "client's" perspective more thoroughly. Q&A to follow. A reception will be held in the atrium following the event.

4:00 - 5:15 Individual Remarks from Guest Speakers
5:25 - 6:00 Panel Discussion and Q&A
6:00 - 7:00 Reception
