***Please note this is a two-day workshop, 10am - 3pm each day.***
Sprigged ware is part of an old decoration tradition historically linked to this area. It is an embossed decoration, usually press molded on pots in the greenware stage to add dimension and further imagery. Participants will learn basic wheel throwing techniques and application of sprig decoration. All materials and tools included. No experience necessary. Participants will leave with a finished, unfired pot. Participants may want to bring their lunch.
Instructor Erin Younge is a STARworks Clay Studio resident artist who translates her Judeo-Christian upbringing using various materials and techniques to build interactive sculptural installations. She received a BFA concentrating in sculpture from UNCG and an MFA from ECU. Erin has taught workshops at the NC Pottery Center and STARworks. She was the curatorial manager for ECU's Dwight Holland Educational Ceramics Collection.
