Event description

Description

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission will host an informational forum titled "What's Up With Drones?" Use of these unmanned aerial systems has exponentially increased. The unique features of these devices make them attractive for site surveying, aerial photography, search and rescue, marketing, film making, fire-fighting, policing, sports and much more. Their affordability and nimbleness make them especially attractive. Yet, there can be unintended, hazardous consequences when not properly managed. We will explore the current regulations and legal recommendations.

Registered guests can watch the program for free via a webinar or can join us for the live program at the MORPC office. Guests can purchase a lunch or bring their own lunch. RSVPS are required.

Our featured speakers include Peter Griggs, Principal at Brosius, Johnson & Griggs. Mr. Griggs law practice is devoted to the representation of public bodies in a vast array of areas, including labor and employment, land use, zoning, annexation and economic development.

We also welcome Mr. Fred Judson, Managing Director of the UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) Center for DriveOhio. Fred oversees development, implementation and administration of state-wide UAS programs, coordinates with Federal, State and Local agencies, national organizations and the general public; and plans and coordinates geospatial processing and collection activities.

The forum will cover the impact of drone use and recommendations for the public sector. For more information, please contact Eileen Leuby, Membership Services Coordinator via eleuby@morpc.org or 614-233-4135.
