Event description

Description

In conjunction with National Beef Month, we're stepping off the farm and into the classroom as we explore the unique investment opportunities found in livestock and animal husbandry. Highlighting the historic contributions of black farmers/growers/producers, Black Soil, has assembled local experts to answer your questions.

So what's the beef? We break down the local impact of the beef industry and examine other outputs of animal production found in our landmark equine industry.

Let's explore the new Bluegrass Stockyards facility that rose from the ashes from the 2015 fire and relocation in 2017. Shop retails outlets and view the Pen where it all goes down.

We're thrilled to introduce to our esteemed panel featuring:

Ed Thompson, Thompson Farm, Scott County (cattle farmer, USDA, Kentucky State University, 3rd generation farmer)

Kenya Abraham, SlakMarket Farm, Lexington-Fayette County (raw milk producer, halal meat herd share, eggs, 3rd generation farmer)

Jermo Reese, Frankie's Corner, Jr., Lexington-Fayette County (equine education and training after school program for middle & high school students, 2nd generation equine trainer)

Greg Harbut, Harbut Bloodstock, Lexington-Fayette County (internation bloodstock, 3rd generation equine expert)
