Event description

Description

Ford Motor Company, an industry giant, is renewing their commitment to addressing mobility challenges for people across the world. This rededication means finding and creating solutions for everyone – whether or not they have access to a vehicle. Ford is exploring opportunities and experimenting with emerging solutions that will shape how the cities and regions such as ours could potentially address our many growing issues that challenges.

The City of Tomorrow" is Ford's vision to explore how near-term mobility advancements - such as autonomous and electric vehicles, ride sharing, ride-hailing, and connected vehicles - could potentially interact with urban infrastructure and create a more cohesive transportation eco-system. Ford created a one-of-a-kind "City Solutions" team that will help address urban environment issues and develop mobility solutions for congested cities.

The Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC) invites you to come and join us for What's on Tap: Ford Motor Company's City Solutions on Thursday, October 26th at the BMC Offices, doors will open at 5:30 pm. Jessica Robinson, director of Ford’s City Solution team will speak about how Ford is broadening its portfolio to include advancements and investments in emerging opportunities, such as its new ride-sharing application Chariot; investigating the energy grid implications of electric cars; Ford GoBike bike-sharing; and progress in traffic management. Together people across the world can utilize these initiatives to help shift the way people travel. A panel of transportation officials from the region will discuss their thoughts and reactions to how Ford's vision fits into our region after the presentation. Panelists include Ms. Michelle Pourciau, director of the Baltimore City Department of Transportation and Mr. Clive Graham, administrator for the Office of Transportation in Howard County. Plan to stay after for discussion and refreshments downstairs under the McHenry Row watertower.

The BMC Offices are located at 1500 Whetstone Way, Suite 300, in Baltimore.

The “What’s on Tap” speaker series is a forum to discover, understand and share knowledge of current and emerging issues, solutions and innovations that can meet today’s challenges and foster a better Baltimore region. Come build the network!
