Join us and Taj Paxton, head of Logo Documentary Films, one of the leading broadcast platforms for LGBTQ content, for the next installment in our What’s New series, in which prominent industry leaders in documentary present up-to-the-minute information about what’s happening in the documentary landscape and discuss new opportunities for filmmakers.

In 2015, following the success of Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, a groundbreaking documentary about transgender youth, Logo TV announced the creation of the Logo Documentary Films division, to give a platform to stories that capture the diversity of LGBT lifestyle and culture and inspire conversations about cultural understanding and unity. Under Taj’s leadership, the network launched its first original slate with Out in the Night, simulcast with PBS’ POV, and the Emmy Award winning Matt Shepard Is a Friend of Mine. The network increased this year’s slate highlighting stories of LGBT heroes with Rick Goldsmith’s Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw, the World of Wonder-produced Out of Iraq, Kathlyn Horan’s The If Project, and the world premiere of Patty Ivin’s Hungry, which follows the path of three driven women chefs and restaurateurs working in the world of professional cooking. In this conversation, Taj will discuss her ongoing vision for documentary at Logo, and give insight into the type of stories that she is looking to both acquire and develop for the network.

In conversation with Taj will be Simon Kilmurry, IDA’s Executive Director. A great opportunity for Southern California filmmakers to engage with one of the most prominent leaders in documentary programming, this intimate session will also include ample opportunity for Q&A.

Taj Paxton is a filmmaker and currently the head of Logo Documentary Films. This fall, Logo premieres HUNGRY, a film about female chefs-food, passions, partners and the challenges of running a high stakes kitchen. It’s the latest in the division’s slate of films that include the Emmy Award-winning MATT SHEPARD IS A FRIEND OF MINE and THE IF PROJECT about police reform.
