Event Details

Are you prepared for a crisis? Are you sure?

When an emergency occurs, the need to communicate is immediate. When was the last time you revisited your crisis preparedness plan?

Communications teams play a pivotal role in preparing spokespeople and messages, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending communication channels ... so that all can act decisively, effectively and responsibly in the face of a major threat or disaster.

An insufficient or poorly communicated plan can cause a big blow to your company's reputation that takes years to recover from...and, in some cases, can even cost lives.

To help local business communicators prepare for and prevent crisis situations -- and avoid becoming a “what not to do” example of crisis communication -- IABC/SD welcomes you to a panel discussion with some of San Diego's top experts on the subject.

Each panelist will provide real-life examples, tips and advice to help you prepare for and prevent crisis situations, manage threats to your company's reputation, and ensure the safety of your employees and other publics.

Breakfast is included in the price of your ticket. Discounted price for IABC/SD members. Register now, for an early-bird discount!

Speaker Panel:

Tammy Glenn is the assistant director, Communications Office at the County of San Diego and previously served as the County's Public Safety Group Communications Officer. She also holds a manager position at the Joint Information Center at the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services (OES), which coordinates the overall county response to disasters, including developing plans and procedures for response to and recovery from disasters, and creating and providing preparedness materials for the public.

Geeta Chinai is a director on Qualcomm’s Employee Communications and Engagement team and served on the company’s Emergency Operations Team (EOT) for several years. The EOT’s mission is to protect Qualcomm’s people, business, and assets through effective emergency planning, response, and recovery.

Staci Reidinger is the public relations and social media director at The UPS Store, Inc., where she develops and drives crisis communication, media relations and community outreach strategies. She is a Marine Corps combat veteran and has held a number of public affairs and communication leadership roles during her 24 years of military service, including advising a commanding general on all crisis and strategic communications planning. Staci was also strike team leader during Hurricane Harvey.
