Event description

Description

This fall, Congress is in the process of rewriting the Internal Revenue Code with the dual goals of lowering individual and corporate income tax rates and simplifying our nation's tax laws. This tax overhaul has major implications for all 501(c)(3) nonprofits. Among other things, the tax reform proposals could reduce charitable giving, politicize 501(c)(3) nonprofits, eliminate financing options for nonprofits, and create new taxes on certain nonprofit activities. In this webinar, we'll discuss the looming changes and how they will affect your nonprofit, including:

  • The important potential changes in the House and Senate bills and how they compare;
  • The latest on the status of tax reform negotiations in Washington;
  • Important action steps you and your constituents can take; and
  • What your nonprofit needs to do implement changes THIS MONTH if tax reform becomes law, since many provisions affecting nonprofits would take effect on January 1, 2018.

Presenters:
David Heinen, Vice President for Public Policy & Advocacy, North Carolina Center for Nonprofits
Tiffany Carter, State Policy Counsel, National Council of Nonprofits
David Thompson, Vice President of Public Policy, National Council of Nonprofits
Satana Deberry, Executive Director, North Carolina Housing Coalition
