Event description

Description

Queen's HanVoice is honoured to host Ellie Cha, a North Korean defector, as a guest speaker for our special event.

Ellie is this year's Pioneer of the "Pioneer Project," a completely non-profit program run by HanVoice. This project aims to empower North Korean refugees to build capacity within their own diaspora, in the hopes of advancing "their efforts further to the broader North Korean Human Rights and Refugee Movement." As part of this year's Pioneer Project, she is currently doing an internship at Parliament Hill, where she had the privilege to work with various organizations such as KCWA and leading Canadian politicians.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear a live testimonial from a North Korean refugee. Ellie will be speaking about her escape from North Korea and the various struggles that she has come across during her life. We encourage individuals with an interest in global justice, humanitarian issues, and refugee relief are attend.

This is a FREE event that will be open to all of Queen’s University staff and students, as well as individuals in the Kingston community. We will be accepting donations at door in support of HanVoice’s Pioneers Project, so please show your support!
