Feeling overwhelmed by all the diets out there? Want to understand the difference between the Whole 30, Paleo, FODMAPs, GAPS, ketogenic, anti-candida and other dietary approaches?
Elliott Acupuncture in Hudson is teaming up with Deb Phillips, Nutritionist, of Great Barrington to present a series of three classes over the course of 2017 about “what to eat”, all designed to help people determine what foods, herbs and supplements might be best for them.
We are looking forward to teaching this series, and the short answer to the question of what to eat is that it depends on the individual. We will endeavor, in this series of classes, to help people determine what to eat via a variety of lenses, both Eastern and Western, and will also employ surveys to help people determine more about their particular constitution and dietary needs.
The first class will cover different Chinese herbal types as well as how things like blood type and genetics influence dietary needs. The second class will focus more on the signs and symptoms of disease and how that determines what people should eat or what herbs or supplements they should consume. The third class will explore dietary and herbal needs from a geographic perspective looking at things like blue zones (where people live longer) and disease clusters by region, climate and country. The local food movement and efforts to clean up the food supply will also be addressed as a part of the geographic approach.
Each class will be held on a Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 (February 15, June 7, October 25) at River Pilates (in the same building as Elliott Acupuncture). Discounts apply if you sign up to bring a friend or register for all three classes at once. You may also sign up for the classes one at a time, unless they fill up. The cost of the classes is $35 per individual class or $50 for “bring a friend”. $100 for the series or $150 “bring a friend” for the series.
