Event description

Description

So you have an idea for a business in your head, but how do you turn that idea into a commercially successful business?

The first steps to starting and growing a successful business are to get an understanding of who your targets customers are, what they need and the wider factors that will determine whether your idea has the potential to be a success. This includes asking a number of key questions about your business idea and finding the necessary evidence to support your answers and back up your assumptions.

This workshop will introduce you to the questions that you need to ask about your business idea, how to identify the information that will help you answer these questions and where this can be found.

You will learn:

  • The key questions you need to ask yourself to take your business forward

  • How to identify and prioritise the information you need to find

  • How to take steps to protect your intellectual property

  • How you can find this information using the Business & IP Centre and free web sources

  • How to get feedback from potential customers

  • How the Business Model Canvas can help you record and develop your business idea

This event will be presented by Nigel Spencer, Research and Business Development Manager at the British Library Business & IP Centre
