Event description

Description

This seminar brings together expert speakers to discuss the future of counselling and psychotherapy in Ireland.

The CORU regulation of the health professions continues, with an uncertain pathway for the regulation of counselling and psychotherapy. In some countries, counselling and psychotherapy have been superceded by medical model orientated mental health interventions.

The speakers come from a variety of therapeutic approaches and will discuss their range of unique views and insights into the potential future for Counselling and Psychotherapy in Ireland.

Dr Finian Fallon, Dean of Psychology at City Colleges, will chair the seminar. The following speakers will address the conference:

Anne Colgan, Psychotherapist and Chair of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).

Olive Cross, a Psychotherapist who is an active member of Therapists for Change.

Dr Marcus Bowman, Psychoanalyst and author of The Last Resistance: The Concept of Science as a Defense against Psychoanalysis (2002: SUNY Press).

Speakers may change and others may be announced.
