WHAT IS MY STORY? An anti-racism skill-building workshop for white people.

About this event

ONLINE THREE-PART INTERACTIVE SERIES

August 11 & August 25 & September 8

Wednesdays, 2-4 pm Eastern

Developing an antiracist story of self is an essential practice for white people.

The stories we tell about ourselves can be a tool in service of white supremacy, or they can be a powerful force for exposing the myths of white superiority and breaking allegiance to whiteness.

Participating in this workshop will increase your:

  • understanding of why and how to develop your antiracist story of self
  • self-awareness
  • skill at showing up with authenticity to racial justice movements

You will have an opportunity to practice:

  • four story types about race and racism in the US
  • writing and reflection, with guidance and prompts, about your own life and work through an antiracism lens
  • sharing parts of your story with others, and receiving thoughtful feedback that will support you to continue developing your story

If you are not able to attend all sessions live, you will receive recordings. However, opportunities for practice and receiving feedback will happen only during live sessions.

Ticket Prices

There are three ticket levels for this workshop.

AT COST $200

Consider paying this amount if doing so would be an investment, but not create hardship for your household. You might choose this rate if you are able to regularly meet your basic needs and have some expendable income, can travel every couple years without burden, and have some debt but are able to pay it regularly. This is the rate we need most people to contribute in order for this offering to be sustained.

CROSS-CLASS SOLIDARITY $300

Please consider paying this amount if you are comfortably able to meet your basic needs, own the home you live in, have paid or pay for private education, travel recreationally, have access to financial savings and/or investments, have reliable work or do not have to work to meet your needs, have inherited wealth, and/or have increased earning privilege due to your race, gender, or education. This rate is a pay-it-forward rate that makes it viable for us to work with more people who need a lower rate.

LOW INCOME $75 (limited to 25 participants)

Consider paying this amount if you have limited expendable income, have little or no access to financial support from family, have significant debt, and little or no access to savings. This is a discounted rate.

NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS.
