What is it like to be a Bio-Engineer?
Meet Dr Jenna Stevens-Smith who is a Bio-Engineer and public engagement professional with an imaginative appreciation of science and engineering. She has a BEng and PhD in bioengineering and has been working in the science communication field since 2009. Prior to joining Imperial in June 2013, Jenna worked for the Society of Biology where she developed their public engagement programme including 20 activities and engaged 250,000 people in two years through collaboration with the BBC.
In the Department of Bioengineering Jenna works to raise the profile of bioengineering in the UK, by doing outreach and communications. This includes supporting all academics with outreach about their research, managing social media, internal communications, creating opportunities for bioengineers to engage with the public, and developing creative demos and activities to make bioengineering more accessible.
