Event description

Description

In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy of service volunteer with us to fight hunger! Nearly 1.1 million New Yorkers face hunger every year including one out of every 5 NYC children. Learn more about food insecurity and how it is affecting New Yorkers and our community. We will begin with a brief orientation about the day including canvassing, the hunger simulation and learning followed by canvassing the neighborhood about SNAP (Food Stamps) benefits. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in a hunger simulation and see how you would battle food insecurity if faced with a similar situation.
