Event description

Description

The journey toward a better understanding of the true nature and benefits of hospice begins by addressing and dispelling widespread myths associated with this unique form of care. The focus of this “What is Hospice? Debunking the Myths” presentation is to raise general awareness amongst community members of all ages about the true nature of hospice and palliative care. By eliminating some of the unknowns of hospice before services are needed, each of us are better prepared to actively and knowledgably participate in care planning discussions for ourselves or our loved one’s.

This complimentary presentation, hosted by Capital Caring Hospice, covers what hospice services are available and the history of hospice care including the modern hospice movement, myths about hospice, frequently asked questions, the role of the hospice interdisciplinary team, and the services provided by hospice that are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and other insurances.

Target Audience – Young adults, senior citizens, professional and nonprofessional caregivers, clinical and nonclinical healthcare professionals.
