About the New NJ SRPLB Rules

March 31st, 2017

Board members of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board, and external experts will present an overview of the new LSRP rules (N.J.A.C. 7:26I Regulations) that were adopted and became effective Jan. 4, 2016. http://www.nj.gov/lsrpboard/board/rules  This half-day course is designed to update LSRPs on the new rules and help advance their ability to apply the rule changes in the  performance, supervision or coordination of site remediation in NJ.

A factual compliant case study will be presented. Review of Decisions posted on the board’s website will be explored.  Key findings that resulted in the penalty will be identified.  LSRPs will be guided through the process to see how and what the Board does to come to a decision.

Instructors:

Phil Brilliant, CHMM, LSRP- founder of Brilliant Environmental Services, LLC (BES) a full-service environmental consulting and contracting firm with offices in Toms River, New Jersey and Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Phil is a Board Member/LSRP of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board.

Jorge Berkowitz, Ph.D.,LSRP–employed by Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc., and is in charge of the environmental component of their Trenton office.  Jorge is a Board Member/LSRP of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board.

JoAnn Held, is self-employed as an Air Toxics Analyst after 26 years of service with the Air Quality Program in the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. She currently works with the Camden Waterfront South Environmental Network, is a member of the New Jersey Environmental Justice Advisory Council and the Alliance of New Jersey Environmental Educators, and is also involved in local sustainability issues. Joann is a Board Member/Environmental Representative of the NJ Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board.

Cristina Stummer, Esq., Saul Ewing, LLP, concentrates her practice on environmental law, with a particular focus on regulatory compliance, complex liability transfer agreements, insurance recovery and environmental litigation in both civil and administrative forums. Cristina counsels clients on complex air compliance and permitting matters, and on navigating the site remediation and brownfield redevelopment process. Her practice includes pursuing or defending claims for cost recovery and defending clients against natural resource damages claims under both federal and state law.

Montclair State's Continuing Environmental Education for Professionals

Continuing Environmental Education for Professionals (CEEP) is an initiative of the College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM) at Montclair State University. Designed to meet the demand for environmental continuing education courses in northern New Jersey.  CSAM offers Continuing Education credit-bearing courses for LSRPs, professional engineers, environmental attorneys, certified environmental service providers, as well as the larger environmental community.    

MSU/CSAM has unique expertise in environmental management, sustainability studies, research and education and is a leading provider of highly qualified professionals and scientists to New Jersey’s environmental-related agencies and private sector environmental engineering and management firms.     

The College is home to the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies, the Passaic River Institute, New Jersey's only PhD in Environmental Management, and a new Professional Science Masters in Applied Sustainability Science.  Additional education offerings include Masters Degrees in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Geo-Science, Marine and Coastal Science, and Sustainability Science; and certificate programs in Water Resource Management, Geographic Information Science and Environmental Forensics.
