Event description

Description

How can we create a new local newsroom that is truly inclusive of, and responsive to, communities across Oakland?

Join us for a conversation at StudioToBe on Jan. 27, where we'll seek your input on several key questions that will guide how we develop a new local journalism platform: How can we meet local information needs beyond publishing stories on our website? How can we work with others to amplify the reach of valuable information resources across the city? How do we make sure we're serving Oaklanders who traditionally haven't been engaged by local newsrooms?

If we aim to live up to our goal of producing journalism for people of Oakland and not about them, we need your guidance on what that should actually look like. This conversation is critical to us as we build out the structure of our newsroom and will guide decisions about our staffing and overall editorial approach.

We’ll have light food and non-alcoholic drinks on hand.

Can’t make it that night? This will be the first of several conversations we'll host on the topic, so stay tuned for details on another opportunity in February.

If you have any questions, please email Cole Goins, contributing editor for community engagement: cole.goins@gmail.com
